DIRECTOR OF CONTRACT AND CLAIMS MANAGEMENT

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Director of Claims and Contract Management to join the Power division of one of the world leaders in transport and energy infrastructure.
The Power Division, based in the beautiful town of Baden, Switzerland, is a large and well-established company specialising in electricity generation equipment and services and is one of the world’s leading suppliers in the field of power station construction.
In this role you will contribute your expertise to the team as head of Contract and Claims Management for the Turbomachines group based in Baden. Your tasks will include assisting the project execution team in ensuring that all project commercial activities meet the standards and budget requirements. You will ensure cooperation, consultation and sharing of information between project contract managers and in-house legal counsels, as well as establish procedures for commercial audits and participate in project reviews. You will ensure adequate project contract managers’ staffing and manage the annual HR cycle (e.g. performance, people and salary reviews) and identify training and development needs. Furthermore you will participate in internal and external discussions on contract management methods for benchmarking of the company’s know-how. You will ensure proper coordination, guidance and supervision of direct reports.
The successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent in engineering, construction, quantity surveying, business administration and/or law. Significant experience of commercial project work in an engineering or construction environment is required. Strong commercial know-how in contracts and contract drafting as well as in formal dispute resolution (e.g. adjudication, arbitration or litigation) is also necessary for this role. You will have a track record of successful claims management and effective project management and experience of high level negotiations. Communication and conflict resolution skills in an international environment; fluency in English and the ability to meet tight deadlines and to lead a team are essential. A self-motivated, confident team player you will also have a strong initiative.
German language classes will be on offer at an onsite language school and a willingness to learn is essential.
