The Assistant Engineer will be a key member of the Consulting Project Management Team based on site in southern Kuwait, and will work directly with the RE Bridges and Structures. This position will primarily be working on a major highway project as the Consultants Representative Engineer for verification of the construction works in accordance with the design, specifications and contract.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the RE Bridge and Structures to monitor the progress, execution and quality of work and ensure that it meets with the project requirements and specification. Key responsibilities include: • QA/QC for all bridge works operations with particular emphasis on review and inspections of all works undertaken by the Contractor for the enabling works, piling, abutments, piers, bridge superstructure, embankments, road works, lighting and services. • Assist the RE Bridges and Structures to review contractor shop drawings and submittals, progress and programs. Review Contractors Daily Reports on manpower, plant and equipment, progress, work operations etc, and respond to contractor technical queries and coordination of information responses between contractor and consultant designer. • Prepare weekly technical progress report and photographic record of works. • Monitoring and reporting on Contractors Environmental Protection systems. • Continually ensuring that best practices, policies, strategy and services represent the clients’ best interests and that the company policy is in keeping with the current legislation, British Standards and Codes of Practice. • Commitment to CPD and self learning / development.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of 2-5 years relevant experience. • Working towards chartership with Institute of Professional Engineering. • Ability to work within a close Client / Contractor / Consultant team environment committed to successful project completion. • Good IT Skills. • Good communication skills with a confident, pro-active character and a track record of taking a lead role in challenging situations.
