Mott MacDonald’s is involved in many of the largest and most technically demanding projects in the UK and worldwide. These projects range from Crossrail in London, Heathrow Terminal 5, Thameslink, East London Line, Victoria Station Upgrade, Budapest Metro, Dublin Interconnectot, TfL tunnels refurbishment and the SMART dual purpose tunnel in Malaysia amongst numerous others.
JOB DESCRIPTION
As the Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will be involved on a range of small to large projects which are industry and publicly high profile. You will be charged with coordinating operations with Mott MacDonald’s existing engineering disciplines and maximising new and existing business opportunities.
Responsibilities will include but not exclusive to:
• Lead various stages of Geotechnical engineering projects including strategy evaluation, detailed appraisal, concept development, detailed design and administration of contracts.
• Responsible as the Geotechnical Division’s representative for the UAE with the overall commercial and technical running off the regional business.
• You will be responsible for the management of a wide range of regional projects.
• You will assist in leading, developing, motivating and managing a team of professionals.
• You will assist in the compilation and writing of proposals.
This is a long-term career appointment with the opportunity to advance to a more senior management position within Mott MacDonald.
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION
Candidates will already be in possession of relevant academic qualifications, be exceptionally experienced since post-qualified and able to demonstrate exceptional Maritime Technical competences. They should also have the necessary drive to achieve their goals and deliver commercial success.
• The ideal candidate will be ambitious and highly motivated with approximately extensive experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
• You will be a highly experienced Chartered engineer with management experience and ideally, a background within a consulting engineering practice.
• Ideally, you will have exposure to international experience and business development.
• You will have experience in providing design services to contractors on major design and construct contracts and in co-ordinating multi-disciplinary design teams.
• You will be self motivated with strong interpersonal skills, good communication skills, and excellent organisational skills
• You will have excellent technical and managerial skills and have a sound commercial background.
• You will have had exposure to Project Management, capable of motivating and leading a large team of staff with varying degrees of experience and abilities.
• You will have the ability to mentor and develop support staff.
