JOB PROFILE We require a Graduate Alignment Engineer for our growing Transportation Middle East team based in Abu Dhabi / Dubai. The role of Graduate Alignment Engineer is a challenging and equally rewarding position presenting an excellent opportunity to help grow a major new business in the Middle East, to potentially work on an exciting and wide-scale and significant regional programme, as well as the opportunity to develop skills and career opportunities.
JOB DESCRIPTION A specialist team within the Transportation Middle East division in the Abu Dhabi office has been established for the concept design of the many new transport infrastructure projects emerging in the region. Due to increasing workload we are looking to recruit a graduate to support further expansion of our busy and successful team.
As a Graduate Alignment Engineer, you will be working on a range of challenging small and large projects. The role will require both outline and detailed design expertise. The successful candidates will be presented with varied and exciting career opportunities within a dynamic team. Key elements of the role will include but not be limited to:
• Involvement in a project or a small portfolio of projects of various sizes from the conception stage; • Plan, design and implement LRT/highways/railways projects; • Having an appreciation of the roles of fellow professionals on multidisciplinary projects (Architect, Quantity Surveyor etc) and interfacing and coordinating with them appropriately; • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a ‘hands on’ role in technical matters both at project and divisional level; • Interpreting commercial and/or contractual aspects of correspondence with or between fellow professionals;
CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION The candidate should possess the essential qualifications, experience, competencies and skills to undertake this role, as listed below:
• Degree qualified in a Civil Engineering or transport related subject; • Post graduate experience in highways or transportation and working towards Chartered status; • Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams; • Self-motivated; • Experience of AutoCAD, Bentley MX; • Experience of LINSIG, TRANSYT, and ARCADY; • Project administration experience; • The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally); • Ability to communicate in English fluently; • Previous experience in one or more of the following LRT, bus, metro, rail; • Seeking to broaden their experience on a range of demanding projects.
