Coastal or Hydraulic Engineer
W. F. Baird & Associates is an internationally recognized engineering firm specializing in innovative coastal structure projects worldwide. We are seeking a Coastal or Hydraulic Engineer with experience in numerical modelling who enjoys seeking out new knowledge to join our dynamic team in the Ottawa, Ontario office.
The job responsibilities will include:
• Application of various numerical models in support of engineering projects, including models of nearshore wave transformation and 2D/3D models of hydrodynamics in rivers, estuaries and coasts.
• Participation in strategic field data collection campaigns and site investigations.
• Analysis and interpretation of meteorological and oceanographic data.
• Contribution to senior technical staff and projects.
• Basic engineering design and analysis in support of coastal/hydraulic projects.
• Preparation of engineering reports.
This is an opportunity to grow your experience with a firm providing cutting edge coastal engineering solutions. We require someone who is self-directed, independent and enjoys resolving a problem from research through resolution in a timely manner.
Our team requires someone with 1 to 5 years experience, and a post-graduate degree in Coastal Engineering or related field with potential for designation as a Professional Engineer. Experience with MATLAB, or other similar calculation and programming tools, and FORTRAN is an asset. Candidates should be legally able to work in Canada and possess a high level of both written and spoken English.
