SUMMARY Responsible for review and monitoring of design activities and coordination of technical issues, with a focus on managing infrastructure design for a specific project. Project based in the Regional Office.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Manage the design and delivery of key internal and external infrastructure for the project as well as managing necessary stakeholders to ensure the project is completed on time, within budget and to approved quality. • Have infrastructure project experience with large scale master planned developments (both in terms of design coordination and construction) as well as in the environmental and sustainable design issues associated with such projects. • Prepare Requests for Proposals (RFPs) including technical design scopes for consultants and identify design elements and deliverables to be undertaken for projects. • Prepare information packages for projects to issue to consultants and other project participants. • Evaluate consultant proposals and actively contribute in the setting up the project design team. • Coordinate / manage consultants, review designs (drawings, specifications and reports) and make recommendations accordingly (to ensure compliance with the client’s requirements). • Programme and monitor progress all phases of design documentation. • Assign tasks to design team based on project needs. • Work with project team to create or modify design documents. • Ensure team is using project specific standards and that the design effort is progressing in the most efficient manner possible. • Ensure incorporation of best practices in civil infrastructure design where relevant. • Collaborate with corporate departments to develop design guidelines and standards for civil infrastructure systems. • Carry out preliminary phasing / staging and programming of construction works. • Communicate and coordinate project activities with project team and management. • Liaise with statutory authorities to secure design approvals and infrastructure handovers including on and off maintenance acceptance ( and including as-constructed drawings) • Ensure compliance with organisation’s document management systems. • Manage Consultant supervision and construction undertaken to ensure the project is delivered in accordance with design. • Ensure adherence of Consultants, Contractors, and team members to Quality and Safety, Health and Environment (QSHE) standards, as defined from time to time within the company.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS A. Education / Experience • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. • At least 15 years work experience in project design, management and construction supervision in infrastructure, with at least 5 years in a Middle East Client Development or Consultant project management environment. • Experience in planning and delivery of large scale and high profile projects.
B. Specific Skills/ Knowledge • Strong working knowledge of the design principles and build ability issues involved in the design and implementation of major infrastructure works, experience with environmental issues and energy management / sustainable design. • Knowledge of computer applications required for design assignments • High degree of competence in writing technical reports in English.
C. Preferences • Arabic language and written skills. • Familiarity with Dubai local authority requirements, construction codes and construction practices |
