Our client requires a Composite FE/ Structures Engineer to join their busy and growing team. The company is based in the beautiful region of Bergamo at the foot of the Alps and a short distance from Milan and its international airports. The region is famous for its culinary delights and beautiful lakes. With its international twist, this is a great base to explore one of Italy's treasures as well as enjoying summer and winter sport in the Alps.
You will be responsible for; Providing analytical stress calculations, by hand or using modern computer FE codes as required. Preparation of stress reports to support product definition. Assist the Product Engineers with the preparation and definition of composite laminate information. Provide strength and stiffness analysis for both components and assemblies. Assist in the development of test plans and the supervision of tests for design verification and component qualification to European and other norms. Coordinate material and component testing to determine design allowables. Cooperate in research and development projects both internally and with third party clients, including professional race teams.
You will need to demonstrate; Technical training in the area of mechanical engineering. Knowledge of mechanics and materials with a focus on structural engineering and light- weight construction. A good grasp of traditional stressing techniques as well as familiarity in the use of modern analysis codes such as Nastran, Patran, Ansys etc. Experience in composite engineering using advanced composite materials an advantage.
Working at our client: Based at their headquarters Northern Italy, as an engineer you will work closely and personally with professional athletes for all their sponsored teams.You might be asked to travel to fantastic locations as part of work. In the past twelve months, our client's engineers have travelled to California to work with professional cyclists in specialised wind tunnel facilities in order to prepare for a major stage race. In order to further develop their products, they have been to team spring training camps, to the Giro and to the Tour De France. .
To develop the business further, they have attended trade shows and visited manufacturing facilities in the Far East. The rapid growth and acceptance of the high standards of their engineering means that next year they will work with three pro tour teams. Our client also works with Universities and manufacturers in Europe, the US and the Far East on novel production techniques, particularly in composites. They regularly file patents and encourage all the engineering team to contribute ideas and concepts to improve the company's IP portfolio.
