DATA CENTRE SYSTEMS ENGINEER ELECTRICAL FACILITIES MANAGEMENT LONDON
We are seeking a Data Centre Systems Engineer who will report to the Central Operations Manager and will support the data centre Engineering activities of the Central Operations group. You will be responsible for the design review & upgrade of existing data centre electrical distribution systems, incorporating HV/LV, UPS, Static Switches, back-up Generator, etc in mission critical data centre facilities, as well as providing Electrical and Mechanical Engineering design input into site systems, liaising with site Operations Managers and Facility staff.
As Data Centre Systems Engineer you will be required to review data centre development and growth against original design, recommending proposals for site capital improvement projects, to monitor power quality and carry out Power Quality and Electrical Discrimination surveys, to analyse power flows within data centres, highlighting developing problems, to carry out data centre thermal imaging surveys and to ensure that all projects are completed with all necessary drawings and documentation updated.
Your duties will also include reviewing the status of data centre schematic drawings, noting any changes required, establishing training procedures to ensure that maintenance and site Operations staff are adequately trained on new installations, assisting in the production/update of Business Continuity Plans and reviewing technological developments and trends with respect to improved data centre environmental efficiency as well as recommending and implementing improvements that will drive data centre efficiency.
To succeed as Data Centre Systems Engineer you should be BEng/MEng qualified in Electrical Engineering (or related Engineering discipline), with some post degree Engineering experience including experience of design/operation of facility power distribution systems, experience of Electrical Engineering project design & project management and experience of Data Centres/Computer Rooms/other telecommunications/mission critical environments, or power generation/manufacturing environments.
You must be proficient in AutoCAD, with knowledge of Engineering ‘Change Control’ systems/procedures and a keen awareness of environmental impact from industrial operations. It is also essential that you are able to travel Europe Wide 3 days a week on average.
Ideally you will also be a Chartered Engineer or with Membership of IET/CIBSE/ASHRAE seeking progression to CEng. Experience of Building Environmental Systems Engineering, of operating PPM systems and being H&S Qualified to IOSH would be highly advantageous, as would Level 1 Thermography, Excel VBA Skills, and having attained HV Authorised Person status.
