Job Description
To support the Divisional Technical Director / Divisional Technical Engineering Manager/Principal Technical Manager in providing a technical support service covering all the mechanical and/or electrical aspects (within jobholder's specialist area) of projects from inception through to project completion and client handover.
Responsibilities:
Develop the Technical management team within the branch and its constituent parts within the branches to successfully achieve company, team and individual goals and objectives relating to the implementation of best value design and standardisation of technical practices and procedures throughout the company Take responsibility for all technical aspects of mechanical/building services/electrical work performed by the company from the inception stage through to final completion of projects and client handover, including work subcontracted to specialist consultants. Represent the company at all levels on technical related matters Maintain an ongoing awareness of national and international standards of technical expertise, reporting back to appropriate personnel any significant changes Maintain design and technical management tools to ensure Divisional Strategy is being implemented and that our contractual and legislative obligations are adhered to and discharged Act as mentor, and assist in the process of developing trainee designers by vocational coaching to successfully achieve company, team and individual goals and objectives relating to design In the role of authorised Company Designer, assist the operating units to undertake design assignments, and undertake schematic and detailed design of installations/schemes within the remit of the jobholder's specialist skill area. Provide technical advice/assistance to queries raised by the operating units, and assist with the value engineering of pre-designed tenders / contracts Participate in the successful assessment of competence and performance monitoring of Designers and External Design Consultants/Contractors, agreeing design responsibility at the pre-commencement stage of specific projects Assist the operating units to expand and develop their technical services disciplines via support to Marketing and Business Development
Qualifications:
Ideally educated to degree standard in a related subject, but with a minimum qualification of HNC or equivalent
