My Client is one of the world's leading ship classification societies. The primary purpose of this Company is to determine the structural and mechanical fitness of ships and other marine structures for their intended purpose. It does this through a procedure known as classification.
This Client establishes and administers standards, known as Rules, for the design, construction, and operational maintenance of marine vessels and structures. The Engineering Department in London has a team of 50 Engineers dedicated to the plan approval of structural, mechanical, piping and electrical systems for new shipbuilding projects and existing ships as well as approval and certification of equipment and documentation as required by International Regulations, acting on behalf of numerous Flag Administrations.Position description:
The successful applicant will have an engineering background, and will preferably have experience in the construction, survey and repair of ships. He/she will be familiar with marine rules, international standards and regulations, and be capable of reviewing new building and conversion specifications and drawings. The work covers a wide range of installations which include medium voltage generators up to 15 kV, and the associated electronic remote control equipment onboard ships. Although experience in the marine industry is preferable, suitable candidates, with a dynamic and progressive attitude, and with a desire to learn may be considered.
Position requirements:
· Engineering degree (B.Eng. or MSc) with marine industry experience in ship electrical systems or similar, or · Related engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, marine equipment manufacturer, shipping company or a classification society, and seagoing engineering license or professional/chartered engineer license. |
