Our client was founded in 1995 and brought together a number of consultancies with a track record of performance in the environmental field. The longest established of their founding consultancies, was set up in 1972 and was the first multi-disciplinary environmental consultancy in the UK. Today our client has over 500 people in eleven offices in the UK and Ireland, one office in mainland Europe. The range of work undertaken within the team is interesting and varied covering almost every aspect of the water environment such as groundwater, wetlands, rivers, lakes/reservoirs, transitional waters and marine waters. The work undertaken embraces the traditional areas associated with hydrologists, hydrogeologists and water quality experts but there is an increasing need for hydroecological skills and this expertise is being developed/incorporated within the team.
The applicant will be required to manage key projects and contribute to a wide range of business development activities.
KEY PROJECTS/CLIENTS INCLUDE: Projects include water resource studies, sustainable water/drainage management, flood risk assessment and management, EIA, R&D, industrial compliance, water company investigations and developing/implementing water related policy (particularly for the Water Framework and Habitats Directives).
EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants would be expected to hold a postgraduate degree in Environmental Science or Engineering and have significant experience. Ideally, the candidate should be appropriately chartered. Ideally, applicants will have both commercial and technical experience with appropriate emphasis (or aptitude) depending upon whether a more Commercial or Technical focus is sought.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: The successful applicant should possess a commercial and technical background with an appropriate emphasis as already indicated. Ideally, previous experience should be gained in any of Environmental Consultancy, Environmental Regulation (or Policy) or in an appropriate environmental role for industry.
Ideally, candidates will have specialist technical expertise in at least one of the following: water resource management, hydroecology, water quality and/or water policy, or flood/drainage hydrology.
We are looking for candidates who are motivated, effective communicators and team players. Preferably, candidates will have a good understanding / knowledge of some of the following: the Water Framework & Habitats Directives; UK Water Legislation/Regulations or UK Planning Policy & Guidance related to Flood Risk and Drainage Management.
