We are looking for a Section Head - Projects to work for a specialist railways consultancy based in Derby. Interfleet Technology is looking to recruit a resourceful and flexible individual to manage a team of project engineers and project managers in our projects team in Derby.
Reporting to the Team Leader – Projects, the work will involve:
Leading the bidding and delivery of assignments in the Projects team.
Working closely with team leaders and section heads, acting as a focus for the organisations range of skills in project management and project engineering.
Ensuring that assignments are delivered to time and to budget and meet client’s expectations.
Training, mentoring and development of individuals to enhance their competency and the range of skills that Interfleet offers to its clients whilst ensuring that the team is well motivated.
Working closely with UK and overseas client account managers to market the organisations project management services.
Managing workload and maximising utilisation across the team
Key skills and experience required for success in this role:
Thorough understanding of the principles of Project Management and how these can be applied to projects in the rail industry.
Experience of leading major interdisciplinary projects with a proven ability to deliver to time, budget and quality.
Leadership skills – ability to lead teams through complex assignments.
Assignment allocator with good project management capability and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
Excellent communication skills including the ability to write clear and concise text.
Ability to assess assignment risks and how they can be managed (including technical, contractual and financial).
Knowledge of the commercial and technical aspects of contracts for the procurement of new vehicles and/or maintenance and overhaul services.
A broad knowledge of the UK rail industry and of Railway Systems Engineering.
The ideal candidate will be a chartered engineer and will have skills in leadership and assignment delivery. Additionally he/she will have a track record that demonstrates dedication, and commitment
