Our client is part of a global Energy & Environmental Group and provides engineered boiler solutions, including low NOx burners, biomass co-firing, boiler control systems and plant upgrades, for utility and industrial boilers

The Project Manager reports to the Head of Project Execution and is responsible for the execution of Projects as assigned in accordance with Company procedures and objectives. This includes the management of project scope, schedule, quality, risk, health and safety, costs, resources, communications, and procurement to meet the Company objectives for the Project.

Specific responsibilities of the role include:-

· Managing the contract scope, including changes and variations.
· Managing costs by ensuring revenues meet forecast cashflows,staff time is managed to achieve budget and material costs do not exceed budget estimates.
· Ensuring Project team members have direct input and ownership in the first issue of the schedule.
· Ensuring schedule activities are routinely updated and delays to schedule caused by others are recorded in the schedule and are claimed via the contract.
· Ensuring resource levels are constantly reviewed to enable schedule to be met and adequate and competent staff resources are in place on the Alstom Project team.
· Ensuring procurement occurs as per schedule and supplier progress reports are expedited for accuracy and time.
· Ensuring OHSE reviews are routinely carried out during the course of the Project.
· Ensuring formal documented risk reviews in accordance with Alstom procedures are routinely carried out during the course of the Project.
· Ensuring Project team members are working harmoniously.
· Ensuring regular, documented communicated occurs with Client and stakeholders.
· Visiting sites, sub contractors and Clients as the Project demands.

Essentially the successful candidate will:-

· Be educated to degree level n an engineering or related discipline.
· Have an understanding of electrical and mechanical technical engineering as required in a Power Business.
· Have worked in the power industry, preferably related to fossil fuel fired steam generating plant with significant experience in Project Management.
· Have excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
· Have attention to detail and tenacity to complete tasks.
· Have high planning/scheduling competence.
· Have good negotiation skills.
· Have a working knowledge of Project Management tools and Techniques.
· Have a working knowledge of financial concepts and reporting requirements.
· Have an understanding of legal issues as applied to contracts.
· Be willing to travel both in the UK and overseas, sometimes spending extended periods away from the office.
· Have a clean driving licence.

The post will be based in Derby, although as the Company's work involves projects in the UK and overseas. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake site visits both in the UK and overseas in order to gather further information relevant to their design activities.
