Our client currently has an opportunity for a Project Engineer to help successfully deliver investigation and design on various rail projects throughout the UK. Working within an established rail business, this is an exciting and challenging role within a supportive team, with a buoyant workload and a variety of challenges. The role involves, but is not limited to the following: • Responsibility for managing a small team of assistant engineers and technicians • Responsibility for delivering projects concurrently to time and to budget • Daily management of projects reporting to the Associate • Quality, Safety and Environmental management within a railway environment • Financial reporting and cost control of projects, Fee proposals and tenders • Client liaison, both internal and external • Liaison with internal and external sub-contractors • Supervision of site work • Factual and interpretive reporting • A working knowledge of Network Rail standards and GRIP procedures You will have strong communication skills as well as strong IT skills, including MS Office With regards to qualifications you will have a civils degree, however OND/HND in Civil Engineering qualification would be considered with 5+ years experience. Ideally Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng, CEng, MICE, driving license and PTS is desirable You must demonstrate good leadership skills, be a self-starter and team player. The role demands some flexibility to meet the demands of the rail industry as some night/weekend working will be required You will also have the ambition to accept the challenge that this position offers You will have practical experience of civil engineering works, preferably within a rail consultancy environment, including: • Trackbed investigation and/or design • Permanent Way design and/or assessment • Drainage and earthworks design and remediation • Surveying/setting out • Geotechnical investigation and/or design |
