Principal Mechanical Engineer - to £44k + pension + relocation if required - Leicester
Our client is renowned as a market leader in the supply of engineering solutions allied to the Nuclear sector, and as a result of continuing success, a substantial full order book and a planned program of strategic growth, are now seeking to recruit a number of HVAC Engineers who are keen to pursue a career in this challenging and specialist market sector and able to demonstrate previous experience of design and project work allied to ventilation, containment and contamination control, ideally within the nuclear sector.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, these projects will necessitate the • Preparation of Design Requirements Specifications and of concept designs and detail design drawings • Preparation of design reports, equipment or process specifications and scoping calculations, and the performance of design reviews and design verifications. • Leading the preparation of complete designs for complex plant, systems or components, including relevant sketches, drawings, reports and other required engineering documentation. • The analysis and solution of engineering problems of varying complexity that may arise in design, manufacture, installation and commissioning, and establishing the man-hour budget for assigned tasks and required completion dates, as well as establishing the target cost of the equipment, or system being designed, specified or detailed. • Design or specification of equipment or supplies that meet or better the target cost, with Design/Cost reviews being a routine part of the design process and use of value engineering checklists will be expected. To be considered for this exciting opportunity located in Leicester, you will ideally be qualified to Degree level in a mechanically biased discipline and possess (or seeking to attain) Chartered Engineer status, demonstrate experience of Nuclear applications, including mechanisms, structures, cranes, handling systems, pressure components, ideally posses an awareness and understanding of national design codes and industry standards (AECP 1054, OHSA18001 and ISO9001, ISO14001) and (CDM Regs, Machinery Directive, CE Marking Requirements) and be able to take customer requirements from concept through to solutions within a high value, safety critical environment.
