Job Description
Due to continued expansion of our Engineering team in the Midlands, we are seeking to appoint Senior M&E Engineers. The successful candidates will lead a team of engineers, providing Project Management and engineering expertise on a range of water and wastewater projects across the Midlands and supporting other offices throughout the country and internationally. You will be key players in the future development of our capability in the Midlands offering our clients solutions with innovation, sustainability, and safety as standard. Atkins is the largest engineering consultancy in the UK, the largest multidisciplinary consultancy in Europe and the world’s fifth largest design firm with over 18,000 dedicated professionals working on all kinds of exciting engineering projects across the globe. Our Water Operations team is one of the largest in the UK with clients including high-profile utility companies, local authorities and independent businesses.

Requirements
Candidates will have an appropriate amount of experience in the water industry, including technical experience of feasibility and detail design in one or more of the following areas: design of water / wastewater networks / design of water / wastewater treatment facilities. A degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred but consideration will be given to other disciplines or qualifications depending on experience. The candidate should also have worked with accredited quality management systems.

Responsibilities
Working in project teams, developing projects through stages, which typically include:
  • Concept
  • Feasibility
  • Outline design
  • Detailed design
Preparation of technical proposals and fee estimates, project management, fee management, expenditure control, in addition to management of design and feasibility studies and approval of reports. Producing detailed project designs according to relevant Standards & Codes Responding to client directions in a responsive and customer focused manner. Working with other Atkins engineers across the UK in advancing our technical capability to the highest standard. This will include identifying innovative approaches and techniques whilst always considering the health and safety aspects of the design. Preparation of briefs, scope of works etc, completion of technical tasks as appropriate to complete the works and liaison with clients, stakeholders, other professional bodies and contractors, in accordance with Atkins’ management procedures.
