As the Geotechnical Engineer, you will provide support to the Business Manager for the Engineering Services business to ensure that the team has an effective balance of resources and necessary tools to perform successfully. This includes the production and authorisation of quotes and final reports. You will also be responsible for pavement projects and geotechnical site investigation schemes including managing budgets and staff. Responsibilities
Prepare proposals and estimates of cost for bridges / structures, pavement and ground investigation work.
Methods of investigation include machine and manual trial pits, cable percussion drilling, rotary coring, dynamic cone penetrometer testing, window sampling by hand and by DART, installation of instrumentation, pavement coring, non-destructive testing (NDT). Management and execution of all fieldwork as described above including sample logging. Accurate reporting to an acceptable and recognised standard and in accordance with the client's brief. Ensure work is invoiced accurately and promptly. Ensure work is carried out in a safe manner in accordance with Health and Safety Policy. Maintain ISO quality assurance systems. Supervision, training and development of team.
Requirements
HND / HNC (or equivalent) in Civil engineering Sound experience within geotechnical engineering environment Proven supervisory and leadership skills including project and fieldwork management Civil / Geotechnical engineering degree highly regarded
