Main Purpose of Post: To lead, manage and develop the occupational health and safety service ensuring close working relationships with partners, clients and external agencies. In conjunction with direct reports, assume responsibility for the maintenance and improvement of performance including financial performance and budgetary management. In conjunction with the Head of Risk Support define the direction of the service and prioritise key areas for improvement.
Responsibilities: To ensure that there are team systems and processes to provide a responsive and effective service to Partners and service users. Manage the provision of Health and Safety and Occupational Health Service, to ensure that Partners operate in a safe and effective manner and that the health and welfare of its workforce is effectively managed. To lead, manage and develop a team of Occupational Health and Safety professionals, ensuring their continuous professional development. To lead, manage and develop teams of safety, moving and handling and fire professionals ensuring their continuous professional development. Through team members and in consultation with partners, ensure the development of Partners Occupational Health and Safety Strategies, to ensure that they operate within legislation and that policies are developed accordingly. Contribute to the Business Plan, coordinating the occupational health and safety elements ensuring service objectives are achieved. Work with each professional lead within each team to proactively identify and develop initiatives to improve the health of Partner workforce and ensure that these are embraced effectively within the team. Manage all information relating to Occupational Health and Safety and utilise this to determine future priorities for action. Develop Performance Indicators to develop improvements in working practices. Promote awareness of Occupational Health and Safety, through partnership with managers and other departments including Human Resources. Take the management lead in developing a strategy for workplace health and safety, to improve awareness throughout Partner organisations and identify and address areas of work-related ill-health. Ensure that Occupational Health and Safety services and products are benchmarked and continuously improved to enhance their value for money for partners. Lead and co-ordinate special projects, which will enhance the Occupational Health and Safety team and contribute to the successful achievement of the operational business plan. Ensure that the team foster working relationships with statutory and other bodies in order to ensure that Partners views are represented properly and to maximise the benefits of partnership working. To advise and support Partner Board sub Committees on Occupational Health and Safety issues To manage allocated budgets, with support from finance colleagues, so that services are delivered to acceptable clinical standards within the resources allocated. Qualifications and experience: An excellent job opportunity has become available due to service re-organisation for a manager to lead the Occupational Health and Safety Team. You will work with primary care and mental health organisations in Cambridgeshire and Norfolk to monitor and improve the health and safety of healthcare and some private sector staff.
