PRINCIPAL / SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER / CAMBRIDGESHIRE / £COMPETITIVE

Our client seeks a Principal/Senior Mechanical Engineer for an engaging & hands-on, mechanical CAD design & design support role for TETRA mobile radio products covering one or more of the following:
- Thin walled plastics design including two-shot mouldings
- Extrusions & diecast parts
- Mechanisms (activators, latching parts etc)
- Electronics connectors
- Product Sealing (up to IP67)
- Design for compactness & ruggedness
To apply for this key position, you will be an experience MECHANICAL ENGINEER with the following essential skills & experience:
* Design of mechanical parts for high volume, low cost, high density products with repeatable manufacturability usually in remote, 3rd party, manufacturing locations
* Design for ease of assembly, repair & eventual disposal
* Writing Mechanical Design related specifications, carrying out feasibility work & product integration & testing
* Good understanding of the interfacing between mechanical parts & electronics circuits
* Good analytical skills; Able to calculate implications of design decisions (tolerance, stress, vulnerability of parts etc)
* Mobile radio, PDA or similar developments
* Competent ProE Wildfire user able to design complex parts with complex surfaces
* Ideally exp of complete development lifecycle from initial requirements through to volume production in the target manufacturing location
* Some PC CAD tool systems management advantageous
