Job Description
To strengthen our M& E capability we are seeking to appoint a senior Mechanical Engineer in our Peterborough Office. The successful candidate will join an existing team of mechanical and electrical engineers, providing mechanical expertise on a range of water and wastewater projects across the United Kingdom. He or she will be a key player in the future development of our M& E capability .
Requirements
Candidates should be chartered or approaching chartered status, with relevant amount of experience in the Water industry. Candidates should be able to work with minimal technical supervision and should be able to monitor and manage their own progress to achieve project deadlines and client requirements. Previous project management experience would be beneficial but is not essential. The candidate will be computer literate and should be able to demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to liaise with other team members and clients.
Responsibilities
The role will encompass project management, fee management, expenditure control, in addition to design, site inspection, report writing, feasibility studies, etc. The successful candidate will also provide technical expertise on multi-disciplinary projects in the Water Industry. You will be responsible for contributing to the successful completion of projects. This includes preparation of briefs, scope of works, completion of technical tasks as appropriate to complete the works and liaison with clients, stakeholders and contractors, in accordance with Atkins Quality Assurance procedures. General responsibilities will include: - Producing detailed project designs according to relevant Standards Codes
- Responding to client directions in a responsive and customer focused manner
- Working with other Atkins M& E engineers across the UK in advancing our technical capability to the highest standard. This will include identifying innovative approaches and techniques.
