Development Manager / R&D Manager – Scientific Equipment Cambridge c£45,000
With customers across the globe, our client develops, manufactures and sells a range of world-class UV/Visible Spectrophotometers, Micro-titre Plate readers, and Amino Acid Analysers. Following business expansion they now have an opportunity for a talented Development Manager / R&D Manager to join their team.
With new product developments being introduced, this is an exciting time to join the company. In this role you will be responsible for leading a team of 10 engineers and scientists, focusing on achieving agreed functionality, timescales, and cost objectives for a project.
As the Development Manager / R&D Manager your key duties will include:
- ensuring project objectives are clearly specified, agreed and understood - allocating resources to form effective project teams - leading the project team and applying Design for Manufacture and Assembly methodology (DFMA) - ensuring the project is run in line with the ISO 9001:2000 and ISO13485 Quality Management System - providing updates to senior management on progress, project costs, production costs and risks
To succeed in this position you must have proven experience in product Research and Development. You will also need to demonstrate experience of leading multi-disciplinary teams, a good understanding of ISO 9001:2000, and the ability to use project management software tools.
A degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Physics or Mechanical Engineering would be beneficial to your application, as would evidence working with DFMA concepts and an understanding of regulatory compliance such as CE, UL, IVD.
Additionally, as the Development Manager / R&D Manager you will need excellent interpersonal skills, great attention to detail, and the ability to work at all levels of an organisation. Your desire to learn is also essential, as is your logical and consistent approach.
