Our client's Norfolk office requires a Technician to undertake the design, implementation and commissioning of traffic signal schemes, as directed by a Senior Engineer or appointed officer.

Your typical duties will include:

• Design the layout and precise method of control, together with the implementation of traffic signal installations
• Learning to write traffic signal controller specifications
• Write installation specifications
• Prepare safety audits, carry out site inspection, tests and commission traffic signal installations as directed
• Develop good knowledge of, and adapt to changes in traffic signal technology, design techniques and H&S legislation to ensure that all works are carried out to current best practice and criteria
• Design, review and implement traffic signal timings following detailed network modelling using tools such as TRANSYT, LINSIG
• Design and implement developments to UTC system to provide network management through techniques such as SCOOT & MOVA design and implentation
• Provide clear, accurate information and advise to internal and external clients on all aspects of street lighting and general electrical works

You will preferably have an HNC / HND in Civil Engineering and you will have experience of working in or with a multi-disciplinary design consultancy.

You should also have knowledge of AutoCAD together with strong IT skills, including MS Office Suite of applications.

With a strong technical focus and methodical style of working, you will have the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients, you will be capable of working to deadlines and autonomously, when required and you will have the ability to solve problems, make rational judgements and evaluate evidence available.

Our client will offer a competitive salary, probably in the range of £24 - 29,000 p.a., together with a comprehensive benefits package.
