Job Designation: Mechanical Building Services Senior Design Engineer
Responsible to: Associate Director
We are looking for a Mechanical Building Services Senior Design Engineer with design experience within the Building Services industry. The candidate will have the ability to take projects from conception though to completion and will be qualified with a Mechanical discipline. The candidate will provide engineering capability to the Building Services Section of our Peterborough office. Support of all our offices will be required from time to time.
The Mechanical Building Services Senior Design Engineer will create, develop and finalise Mechanical Engineering services advice and designs as well as monitoring site installation works. The candidate will join the Building Services section to provide engineering support on single and multi-disciplinary projects including new build and refurbishment projects for the public and private sectors.
Qualifications required:-
MCIBSE/MIMechE approved Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services, preferred working towards Chartered Status.
Minimum of 5 years experience.
A good level of computer literacy in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and Building Simulation/Calculation software is required. We also use AutoCAD & IES software to add value to our design work
Role:-
The successful candidate will work within multi-discipline design teams as the lead Mechanical Engineer or with an Associate Director on major projects. As the role develops he/she will be responsible for the project management of complex projects for Clients in the Educational, Commercial, Leisure, Healthcare, Residential and Public Sectors. This will include Client liaison, design, interface with project teams and contract implementation.
Experience required:-
The candidate will have design and project engineering experience across the breadth of Mechanical Building Services such as:-
Heating systems
Ventilation systems
Comfort cooling systems
Air conditioning systems
Hot and cold water systems
Above ground drainage systems
Automatic control systems
Personality:-
The ability to operate as part of a project team, within appropriate authority levels and to represent the company with confidence to a variety of Clients and outside organisations. The candidate will be well motivated, innovative and career minded.
Main responsibilities:-
Mechanical Building Services engineering design to company standards
Carrying out design calculations
Preparing technical specifications
Preparing drawings for drafting by others
Representing the company at meetings
Site surveys and inspections
Maintaining records and archives to company standards
Manage own workload
