Electro-Magnetic Design Engineer
Job Description Working as part of a multinational and multi-disciplined team you will be involved in a range of projects for the automotive and transport industries where the work is predominantly for the passenger car and truck markets. You will be supporting the design, development and integration of leading edge technologies into vehicle systems for:
Powertrain systems including hybrids, gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions
Battery charging and Load calculations
Industry standard automotive communications bus protocols including diagnostics
You will need to work effectively with other engineering disciplines to develop system level solutions and to implement designs that satisfy packaging, environmental and electrical requirements.
Person Specification You ideally have a background within automotive electronics and are now seeking your next move into a challenging environment that will broaden your experience and reward you with opportunities to work with leading OEM brand programmes for global market needs. In order to be successful, you will need to seek innovative solutions while working within tight timescales. Able to work well within multi-disciplinary project teams, you will be a self-starter with the determination to deliver to clear objectives.
Your degree qualification (or equivalent) will be in an electronics related subject and you will be expected to be familiar with the following:
Generation of product requirements and test specifications
Electrical and Electronic system and circuit level design including Design FMEA Experience of developing electronics based products from concept to production Design, development, validation and application of automotive electronic components and sub-systems including EMC test techniques e.g. sensors, actuators, power electronic systems etc.
Knowledge in one or more of the following additional areas is essential:
Design of Electrical System Architectures covering power distribution, sensors, communications bus and interconnect strategies Full system integration testing using CANoe, CANscope, CANstress Wire harness design/development and management of sub-suppliers System robustness testing Inverter & DC-DC Converter design (MOSFET & IGBT) Motor Control (Synchronous, Asynchronous) Power Management Systems Battery Management Systems/Energy Storage Systems
