Description of Role
As Engineering Manager, you’ll lead an Engineering team of c40 in the delivery of engineering maintenance and development to improve the operational efficiency of our Poole site. A member of the site senior team, you’ll also be a key contributor to our Lean journey and other continuous improvement initiatives designed to deliver long term performance targets. We are looking for an Engineering Manager from a food or FMCG manufacturing environment with extensive experience of manufacturing maintenance and capital projects. You’ll also need to have experience of team and budget management and a commitment to the highest standards of operational excellence.
The Kerry Foods site in Poole is a high volume, short shelf life manufacturing facility employing around 1,000 staff. This complex site produces c600 tonnes per week of both Wall’s branded and retailer brand pies and pastries and is currently implementing a Lean manufacturing programme.

Key Responsibilities
· Leading and motivating the Site Engineering team
· Deliver operational excellence in all areas of maintenance and engineering development
· Formulate and deliver a site engineering strategy that ensures site operational and business needs are met
· Identifying opportunities to improve processes and machinery
· Managing the Engineering overheads budget
· Working collaboratively with manufacturing colleagues, customers and suppliers
Previous experience
· Experience at managerial level in engineering in a food or FMCG manufacturing environment
· Experience should encompass both maintenance and projects
· Expertise in at least 2 of the following disciplines; refrigeration / electrical / mechanical
· Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques would be advantageous
· Demonstrable experience of controlling significant budgets
Qualifications
· A degree or equivalent qualification in a Mechanical or Electrical discipline
