DESIGN MANAGER – Retail projects
Package: £45k basic, car allowance and full benefits
Company: Main Contractor working upon projects to £20m in the South West, South and Midlands areas, focused upon Retail, Education, Health, Commercial, Leisure and Accommodation schemes.
Role: Management of design aspects for a portfolio of Tesco retail projects at tender and Construction stage, during the bid process you will manage the design elements of bids or tenders through to a successful award as part of the Bid Team, offering guidance and advice upon buildability issues and management of the design process and external consultants. During the Construction stage you will manage the design process for setting up the supply chain, co-ordination of design between subcontractors and monitoring of the design aspects including performance of external consultants and the supply chain whilst assisting project teams.
Specific responsibilities: include leadership of the design process, advice upon value management and project specifications, programming and sequencing, design within cost restraints, minimise risk, ensure the design process recognises current legislation, standards and Codes of Practice. Manage the activities of the design team and Co-ordinate all parties to suit.
Requirements: You must have worked for main contractors in the UK in a design focused role upon retail projects to at least £10m, will be well versed in construction design and will have professional construction qualifications, long periods of permanent employment and varied main contracting experience. Contract or freelance or pure design backgrounds will not be considered.
